Gort (Irish: Gort Inse Guaire or An Gort) is a town in south County Galway, in the west of Ireland. It lies just north of the border with County Clare on the old Galway–Limerick road, now the R458. Gort is situated in the territory of Uí Fiachrach Aidhne also known as Maigh Aidhne ("the plain of Aidhne"), which is coextensive with the diocese of Kilmacduagh / Cill Mhic Dhuach.

Tuam ( TEW-əm; Irish: Tuaim, meaning "mound or burial-place" [t̪ˠuəmʲ]) is a town in Ireland and the second-largest settlement in County Galway. It is west of the midlands of Ireland, about 35 km (22 mi) north of Galway city. Humans have lived in the area since the Bronze Age while the historic period dates from the 6th century. The town became increasingly important in the 11th and 12th centuries in political and religious aspects of Ireland. The market-based layout of the town and square indicates the importance of commerce.

Bohermore (Irish: An Bóthar Mór, meaning "The Big Road") is an area of Galway, Ireland. It got this name as it was the main road into Galway City from the east in medieval times.
There is a large cemetery located in Bohermore known as the "New Cemetery", which contains two mortuary chapels, one Catholic and the other Protestant. People buried there include the Irish-language writer and journalist Pádraic Ó Conaire (1882-1928), Lord Haw Haw (William Joyce) (1906-1946), an Irish-American who broadcast Nazi propaganda from Germany during World War II, and Lady Gregory (1852-1932), a founding member of the Irish Literary Theatre movement, who hosted a literary and artistic salon in her house at Coole Park, in rural south Galway.

County Galway ( GAWL-way; Irish: Contae na Gaillimhe) is a county in Ireland. It is in the West of Ireland, taking up the south of the province of Connacht.
There are several Irish-speaking areas in the west of the county. The traditional county includes, and is named for, the city of Galway, but the city and county now have separate local authorities: Galway City Council administers the urban area, while the rest of the county is administered by Galway County Council.
The population of the county was 258,058 at the 2016 census.

Ballinasloe ( bal-en-a-SLOH; Irish: Béal Átha na Sluaighe, meaning "mouth of the ford of the crowds") is a town in the easternmost part of County Galway in Connacht. It is one of the largest towns in County Galway with a population of 6,662 people as of the 2016 census.
