Citywest (Irish: Iarthar na Cathrach) is a village on the southwestern periphery of Dublin, originally developed as a "business campus." It contains a large hotel and golf course, a shopping centre and an expanding residential element Citywest is situated in the southwest of the traditional County Dublin, in the jurisdiction of South Dublin County Council; the nearest major suburban centre is Tallaght, while the semi-suburban village of Saggart is adjacent.

Summerhill (Irish: Cnoc an Línsigh) is a designated heritage village in County Meath, Ireland.  It is located at the intersection of the R156 and R158 regional roads and is part of the Laracor civil parish. The Irish version of the town's name means "Lynch's Hill", and it was the ancestral home of the Norman-Irish Lynch family, whence came the Galway merchant family of the same name - one of the "Tribes of Galway".  It is also the site of one of the most important battles in 17th century Ireland, the Battle of Dungan's Hill. The town was known in English as 'The Knock' or 'Lynchs' Knock'  (phonetic renderings of Cnoc an Línsigh, Lynchs' hill) until about 1667 when it was renamed Summerhill. The ruins of the large Lynch castle can be seen in the village today.

Ballinteer (Irish: Baile an tSaoir, meaning "Town of the Stonemason") is a small southside suburb of Dublin, located in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland, extensively developed from the late 1960s onwards.

County Dublin (Irish: Contae Bhaile Átha Cliath or Contae Átha Cliath) is one of the thirty-two traditional counties of Ireland. Prior to 1994 it was also an administrative county covering the whole county outside of Dublin City Council. In 1994, as part of a reorganisation of local government within Dublin the boundaries of Dublin City were redrawn, Dublin County Council was abolished and three new administrative county councils were established: Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin.
While it is no longer used as an administrative division for local government, it retains a strong identity in popular culture. It is in the province of Leinster, and is named after the city of Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. County Dublin was one of the first parts of Ireland to be shired by John, King of England following the Norman invasion of Ireland. 
According to the 2016 census, the total population of County Dublin was 1,345,402, approximately 27% of the Republic of Ireland's population. The county is a NUTS 3 region, and is part of the NUTS 2 region of Eastern and Midland.

Swords (Irish: Sord [sˠoːɾˠd̪ˠ] or Sord Cholmcille) is the county town of Fingal and a large suburban town on the Northside of Dublin.  Lying ten kilometres north of the city centre, on the Ward River, and reputedly founded around 560 A.D., it features a restored medieval castle, a holy well from which it takes its name, a round tower and a Norman tower.  Near to Dublin Airport, Swords is also home to one of the Dublin region's larger shopping centres, The Pavilions, several other retail facilities and a range of industries.  Suburban housing estates lie around the town centre, with several parks and many schools and sporting facilities.
The name "Swords" is also applicable to a townland, to the civil parish, within the historic County Dublin, and to the local electoral area.
