Whitegate (Irish: an Geata Bán) is a small village in East Cork on the eastern shore of Cork Harbour in County Cork, Ireland. It lies within the townlands of Ballincarroonig and Corkbeg. Whitegate is within the Cork East Dáil constituency.
The ruins of a 14th-century or 15th-century church lie in the grounds of Corkbeg churchyard close to Whitegate village. The current Church of Ireland parish church was built within the same churchyard in 1881.Once a fishing port and known for lace-making, during the 20th-century Whitegate became the location for Ireland's only oil refinery, which was built on Corkbeg Island on one side of Whitegate Bay. This refinery has been owned by Irving Oil since 2016. Aghada Power Generating plant lies on the other side of the bay.
The writer William Wall grew up here, though his home, then vacant, was destroyed in a fire in 2008 in a suspected arson attack. Trabolgan Holiday Village is located nearby.

Montenotte is an area in the north-east of Cork City, Ireland, which had an influx of wealthier merchants and a  prosperous middle classes in the early to mid-19th century. It was named after the late 18th century Napoleonic battle, the Battle of Montenotte, which took place in Northern Italy. Montenotte is part of the Cork North-Central (Dáil constituency).
Situated on a hill facing south over the River Lee, Montenotte acquired several substantial residences, some of them set in miniature estates with terraced gardens. Many of the larger houses now have institutional uses, or have been divided into apartments.The suburb comprises two electoral districts (Montenotte A and Montenotte B) within the Cork North-Central constituency of the Irish Dáil. As of 2002, the respective populations were 1,853 and 2,723.

County Cork (Irish: Contae Chorcaí) is a county in Ireland. It is the largest and southernmost county of Ireland, situated in the province of Munster and named after the city of Cork, Ireland's second-largest city. The Cork County Council is the local authority for the county. Its largest market towns are Mallow, Macroom, Midleton, and Skibbereen. In 2016, the county's population was 542,868, making it the third-most populous county in Ireland. Notable Corkonians include Michael Collins, Jack Lynch, and Sonia O'Sullivan.
Cork borders four other counties: Kerry to the west, Limerick to the north, Tipperary to the north-east and Waterford to the east. The county contains a section of the Golden Vale pastureland that stretches from Kanturk in the north to Allihies in the south. The south-west region, including West Cork, is one of Ireland's main tourist destinations, known for its rugged coast and megalithic monuments and as the starting point for the Wild Atlantic Way.
The county is known as the "Rebel county", a name given to them by King Henry VII of England for its support of a man claiming to be Richard, Duke of York in a futile attempt at a rebellion. The main third-level educator is University College Cork, founded in 1845, and with a current undergraduate population around 15,000. Significant local industry and employers include technology company Dell EMC, the European headquarters of Apple, and Dairygold, which own milk-processing factories in Mitchelstown and Mallow.

Bishopstown (Irish: Baile an Easpaig, meaning "town of the Bishop") is located in the civil parish of St. Finbar's, Barony of Cork, County Cork, Ireland. It is a southwestern suburb of Cork and is made-up of the townlands of Ballineaspigbeg and Ballineaspigmore (sometimes spelled Ballinaspigmore). It is near the city of Ballincollig, a satellite of Cork City, and is home to a number of schools and colleges, 
Though it is sometimes suggested that the name of the area derives from an early 18th-century bishop who built his country residence there, the name can be reputedly traced back further and found in sources dating to the 16th century.
